FAQs

Common Questions

How does Zoë work?
A coiled spring generates the power. When the spring releases, the insulin passes through a tiny opening (0.006 inches) at the end of the jet and forms a micro-jet stream. This stream then enters the skin and disperses throughout the subcutaneous tissue.

Is the Zoë expensive?
No. The Pet Jet is one of the most economical methods of insulin injection available. When compared to needles and syringes or other jets, the Zoë saves hundreds of dollars over the course of a few years.

Can Zoë be used to treat people with diabetes?
Although the same jet technology used in Zoë has been used to treat people with diabetes for over 20 years, Zoë is specially calibrated for use with dogs and cats. If you or someone you know would like to learn more about our needle-free injector for humans, please call 1-866-235-2673, email info@zoepetjet.com, or visit www.advantajet.com.

Giving Injections

Are the injections painful?
No. Zoë is designed to administer insulin painlessly. Zoë is available in three sizes: small, medium, and large, and each unit has six pressure settings to ensure comfortable injections for your pet.

How can I determine the right pressure setting (number of “back-offs”) for my dog or cat?
There are two ways you can tell if the pressure setting is right for your pet; your pet’s reaction when receiving the injection and by examining the injection site following the injection. When giving the first test injection, begin with three back-offs and evaluate your pet’s reaction and the injection site, and then adjust Zoë appropriately for the next injection.

When injecting with Zoë, what areas on my pet should I inject?
Your veterinarian should help you determine the exact locations of where to inject with Zoë. Please review your owner’s manual page 17 for general location recommendations.

Insulin

I have already been treating my diabetic pet with the needle and syringe. Will the amount of insulin needed change when I switch to Zoë?
Not initially. However, independent studies show that jet injection increases insulin absorption over needle and syringe methods, which means that you may be able to reduce the amount of insulin that is required by your pet.

Can both U-40 and U-100 insulin be used with Zoë?
Yes, both types of insulin may be used. The owner’s manual provides a Dosage Chart where you will identify the appropriate number you need to load Zoë to deliver the correct dosage.

Cleaning & Maintenance

How often does Zoë need to be cleaned?
We recommend cleaning/disinfecting Zoë once a week.

Is it difficult to clean Zoë?
No. Cleaning Zoë is easy. Simply fill the cleaning block with 70% alcohol and soak Zoë’s Nozzle and Front Tube for 10 minutes. Allow both parts to dry for half an hour. Click here for complete cleaning instructions. [link to cleaning instructions]

How long will Zoë last?
Zoë will last for 20+ years. The warranty on the unit is 2 years and a preventive maintenance is recommended every 4 years.

Do I need to have a back up?
Always have a back up insulin administration method for your pet. Zoë is an instrument and in the unlikely event of malfunction, you need to be able to administer insulin to your pet.

Do I need to work with a veterinarian when I first start using Zoë to treat my pet?
We strongly encourage you to discuss this option of treatment for diabetic pet with your veterinarian. If you would like to speak to a vet that knows all about Zoë, please contact us.
