It is helpful but it is not necessary for you to train Zoë users on how to use and maintain the Zoë unit. The Zoë Welcome Kit comes complete with all of the necessary training materials. Also, we are prepared to walk your client through the entire process of loading, using, and cleaning the Zoë unit.
Your role involves monitoring the health of the pet by:
Encouraging frequent glucose monitoring, especially when your client first starts using Zoë. Many human diabetic patients using the needle-free technology have decreased their insulin amounts by up to 20%. A similar result is expected in animals.
Deciding on the best insulin type for the patient. There is no need to change insulin types because your client is changing administration methods. Zoë will accurately measure both U100 and U40 insulin.
Advising the location of the injections. The Zoë Owner’s Manual includes suggested locations for the injections, but your clients may ask you to identify these injection sites (i.e. the lumbar area) as well. In some cases, your clients may feel more comfortable if a small area is initially shaved to indicate the area of the injection. Direct skin contact is necessary for Zoë to be effective, but in most cases parting the hair will suffice to allow for this contact.
If you have any additional good practices for diabetic pets that you would like to share with us, email them to info@zoepetjet.com.
